Weather plays havoc with sports schedule

It's the first time we have used this headline, but it'll likely not be the last.

The sudden cold snap, and with Freeze Warnings in place through much of Kansas, the start of the Regional Tennis tournaments have been altered, and some events have been cancelled, as the drastic weather change - associated with a massive winter storm hitting the northern Plains states - comes to Southwestern Kansas.

The start time for the Class 3A Phillipsburg Regional - where players from Goodland and Colby will begin their quest for the state tournament next weekend, has been pushed back to 11 am tomorrow. We will update you either in this post and/or through our Twitter feed of any additional changes, including the Meade Regional.

The golf meet at Syracuse has been cancelled due to the weather as well. It will not be made up. Regional play for girls golf begins on Monday.

The Garden City boys soccer match scheduled for tonight against Great Bend has been moved up to a 4 pm start, with the varsity game played first.
