Wallace County Girls CC wins 1A Regional, Meade also to state
When the Greeley County Class 1A Cross Country Regional Meet was finished, two area teams had punched their ticket to run another meet next week.
Wallace County won the girls meet, while the Meade girls will join them at the state meet in Wamego on November 2 thanks to their third-place finish.
Meade's Madison Sutterfield won the individual title to lead the Buffaloes. Sutterfield will be joined at the state meet by Haley Thompson, Katie Walsh, Kyra Shewey and Kyla Trujillo.
The Wallace County contingent, which includes Adrienne Selzer, Alyssa Pierce, Madeline Pearce, Chisum Goodwin and Claire Walker-Heisel, had their top four runners finish in the Top 19 among scoring teams' runners to eek out a close win over Kiowa County.
Greeley County also had two runners which may have finished high enough in the race standings to garner a berth to the state meet - Raven Osborne and Lauren Crotinger.
No area teams qualified from the boys meet - Meade was the only full team competing and finished 8th - but two area runners may have also finished with results that will get them to the state meet in Kyler Smith of Greeley County and Meade's Vance Shewey.
