Tuesday Hoops - Indians have 3 in double figures in win over Jackrabbits
Manuel Chavez led three players in double figures with 15 points as Wichita County managed to get a 57-43 win over Greeley County on Tuesday in Leoti.
Chavez was aided by Sheldon Whalen, who scored 12 points, and an all-around effort by Kayde Rietzke, who added 11 points, six rebounds and six assists in the victory.
The win for the Indians came in one of six games - three boys and three girls - which were played on Tuesday. Five of the scheduled boys-girls doubleheaders were postponed or cancelled due to a storm that hammered the southern part of the state.
In other finals from Tuesday:
- Wray, CO 61, Goodland 58
Brennan Brumbaugh scored a career-high 31 points and added 11 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to lift the Cowboys past the Eagles. Goodland has now lost 11 straight games.
- Triplains-Brewster 53, Wallace County 46
- Goodland 64, Wray, CO 61
The Cowgirls (6-7) used a 20-point night from Emma Lehman, 12 of which came in the second half, to beat the Class 2A No. 10 Lady Eagles for the first time since 2009. Katie Godsey scored a career-high 25 for Wray (9-5).
- Wallace County 62, Triplains-Brewster 22
- Greeley County 47, Wichita County 34
