Thursday BB: Spartan boys bounce back with win

Make it 11 wins in the last 12 games for Deerfield High boys basketball, who won a makeup game with Fowler on Thursday, 60-41.


The Spartans (15-3) raced out to a 16-2 lead after the first quarter and didn't look back as they bounced back from a tough loss at Pawnee Heights on Tuesday.

Garden City 53, Ulysses 51

Luke Tolbert scored a season-high 14 points to pace three Buffaloes in double figures as Garden City evened its record at 8-8. With the setback, the Tigers fall to 5-11 on the season.


Moscow 62, Rolla 31

Girls

Fowler 30, Deerfield 29

In a game which neither team led by more than six points, the Ladybugs held off the Lady Spartans to get the win. Down by 30-27 late in the game, Thelma Weadring went to the foul line and hit two key free throws to pull Deerfield within one, but Fowler managed to hold on for the win.
