Red Demons earn spot in Best of Kansas 6A Top 5, Super 10
The Dodge City Red Demons, who are 6-0 for the first time since 2010, have made their way into the Best of Kansas Class 6A Top 5 football poll, released Sunday by the Topeka Capital-Journal.
The Red Demons have also become the first team from Southwestern Kansas to make their way into the Best of Kansas Super 10, which ranks teams regardless of classification. Dodge City is No. 8 in the Super 10 poll.
Dodge is among the seven teams - all constants over the past three weeks - being considered for the Top 5 in their respective classes. In Class 3A, unbeaten Colby and 5-1 Scott City were considered, while the same two teams who have been getting attention in Class 2A - Cimarron and Lakin, who battled until the final horn in their game this past Friday - were also considered.
That group is joined by Elkhart (1A) and Wichita County (8-man Division I).
