Key league games highlight Friday Basketball slate

There will be a handful of very good contests on tap for tonight which could help determine who wins leagues in the regular season, as schools in Southwestern Kansas prepare for another busy Friday night of high school basketball in the area.

One of the more interesting contests on Friday will be in the Hi-Plains League, as the Syracuse girls (10-4) visit Elkhart (13-3). The Lady Wildcats won the first meeting, which was in the HPL Tournament Championship Game, taken by Elkhart on a buzzer-beater, 51-50. The winner will have the inside track toward the league's regular-season crown, as well as at least a No. 2 seed in the upcoming Elkhart Sub-State Tournament.

Also, the young but talented Hugoton girls (9-4) play host to Class 3A No. 2 Scott Community (13-1) in a key battle in the Great West Activities Conference and CImarron Sub-State. The Lady Beavers won the first meeting in Scott City, 61-56.

We encourage coaches to submit game details (i.e. copies of scorebook, etc.) to ben@swkspreps.com, as well as final scores and any other information that would be helpful to recap the games. FInals can also be tweeted at us @SWKSPreps, texted to us at 620-277-9759, or messaged to us via Facebook (SouthwestPreps).
