KBCA Rankings - Hugoton boys, SCHS Girls move up
The latest Kansas Basketball Coaches Association High School Basketball rankings are out, and two area teams moved upward from their preseason rankings with solid opening performances in their openers.
In girls basketball, Scott Community moved up one spot to No. 7 in the latest Class 3A rankings, released on Tuesday. The Lady Beavers were ranked No. 8 in the preseason, and won big in their opener against Wichita County.
In boys basketball, the Hugoton Eagles won twice over the weekend, showcasing some depth as at least 11 players scored during their two wins at the RL Ballard Memorial Basketball Tournament in Spingfield, Colo., and in the process, moved up from two spots from their preseason rankings to No. 6 in Class 3A.
The Eagles are not alone on the boys side as far as ranked teams are concerned. Meade, who opened with a strong win over Elkhart, kept their preseason ranking in Class 1A this week at No. 5.
