Hugoton, Meade boys, Colby girls climb in KBCA rankings
Three teams from Southwestern Kansas moved up, one held their ground, and one took a bit of a tumble in the latest rankings, released by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association on Tuesday.
The Hugoton boys continue their steady rise through the Class 3A Boys poll, now sitting at No. 2 in the state. The other Southwestern Kansas boys team in the polls would be Meade, who is ascending once again in the Class 1A poll, now back to No. 8. They were rated as high as No. 5 earlier this season.
On the girls side, Liberal holds on to the No. 2 spot in the Class 6A poll, while two other area teams are trending in opposite directions. Colby, who beat Scott Community in Scott City last week, climbed from No. 8 to No. 5. The Lady Beavers, in the meantime, dropped three notches to No. 6 in Class 3A.
The Stanton County girls, after suffering a couple of setbacks last week, dropped out of the Class 2A poll this week.
