Girls BB: Hugoton holds off Garden City
Thanks in part to a strong second quarter, the Hugoton girls basketball squad made it four wins in a row on Tuesday, picking up a 48-37 home win over Garden City.
Gianna Vos led the way with 17 points, while fellow freshman Miklyn Hamlin added 15 for Hugoton, who have beaten Scott Community, Colby and Garden City in their last three games.
The Lady Eagles (11-4) used a 17-4 run in the second quarter to expand a two-point lead to 28-13 at halftime. Vos and Hamlin hit three-pointers during the run.
Aryana Gallegos led the Buffaloes (8-8) with 14 points.

Scott Community 61, Southwestern Heights 22
The Lady Beavers used a 31-2 run to take control in the first half and run past the Mustangs. Brynn McCormick's 14 points led the way for Scott Community (14-2), while Amber Latta chipped in with 12. Susanna Carillo led Southwestern Heights (3-12) with six points.
Dodge City 51, Ulysses 23
Kisa Unruh hit four three-pointers on her way to a 16-point night as the Lady Demons (13-4) picked up a win on the road at Ulysses. Dodge City lead 34-7 at halftime and cruised to the win. Hallie Nagel paced the Lady Tigers (1-15) with nine points and five rebounds.
Holcomb 69, Lakin 30
The Lady 'Horns (5-11) used a 22-4 run in the first quarter to take control and pick up the win at Lakin (7-8).
Syracuse 61, Greeley County 29
Arela Bustillos led three Lady Bulldogs with 17 points as Syracuse (11-5) jumped out to a solid start, and used a 20-8 run to help secure the win over Greeley County (5-11). Margo Stum added 16 points while Carly Kullott finished with 12 points for the Lady Bulldogs.
Elkhart 66, Turpin, OK 57
The Lady Wildcats (15-3) used a 41-33 scoring edge in the second half to secure its 11th win in a row by holding off Turpin (11-8). Elkhart held a slim 25-24 lead at the half, then outscored Turpin 18-13 in the third quarter to control the game.
