Girls BB - Greeley County's big run nets first win
Sometimes, it takes a big run to separate one team from another in the game of basketball. Rarely, though, does the run last as long as the Greeley County girls basketball squad put together on Tuesday in their first game at the 2019 Border Wars at Syracuse.
The Lady Jackrabbits used a 25-6 run that extended over a quarter and a half, and used that to pull away to a 56-29 win over Eads, Colo. at Barney Akers Gymnasium.
Three Lady Jackrabbits (1-1) ended the contest in double-figure scoring - Grace Whitham scored a team-high 11, while Lauren Crotinger and Kamryn Youmans added 10 points apiece for Greeley County.
The Lady Eagles (1-1) stayed close early, tying the game for what turned out to be the final time at 13-13 late in the second quarter. Greeley County followed with a 14-2 run to end the first half, then extended the run by scoring 11 of the next 15 points to take control of the contest.
Kaycee Ellenberger led all scores with 13 points for Eads.
