Five SWKS Players picked for 2020 Shrine Bowl

A total of five players from Southwestern Kansas schools have been selected to participate in the 2020 Shrine Bowl, which will be played in July in Topeka.

Refrugio Chairez of Garden City, Calvin Stapp of Colby, Hadley Panzer of Lakin, Beau Foster of Dodge City and Hunter Yager of Scott Community were selected to the squad, announced on Saturday.

Chairez and Panzer both were two-way lineman who were dominant in their senior seasons. It's the second All-Star game selection for Panzer, a Kansas State University signee.

Stapp helped Colby to its best regular season in nearly two decades, as the Eagles finished 9-1 on the season. Foster helped the Red Demons finish unbeaten in the regular season for the first time since 2010, while Yager helped the Beavers to an 8-3 mark in 2019.

The 47th Annual Kansas Shrine Bowl will be held at Yager Stadium at Moore Bowl in Topeka, beginning at 7 pm. The all-star game is a showcase for current seniors, and includes a number of events surrounding the game. A fundraising golf tournament, a high school combine for both players and cheerleaders, and other events take place during the weekend of the contest.
