Cook wins Hugoton Regional, Goodland claims team title
Stanton County's Riley Cook fired a 2-under-par 72 to win the 3-2-1A Girls Golf Regional Individual title, while Goodland held off Colby by three shots to win the regional team title at the Hugoton Regional on Monday.
Cook was 2-under on the back nine to edge Colby senior Brielle Bange for individual medalist honors. Goodland's Kerrigan Rudolph was third, followed by Stanton County's Caelyn Cook and Hanna Lampe of Syracuse. The Cooks and Lampe are among the golfers who qualified for next Monday's State Golf Tournament.
Cimarron finished third and held off Stanton County by seven shots to claim the final team berth to the state meet, which will be held at the Salina Municipal Golf Course in Salina. Kacee Coast finished in a tie for 10th to lead the Bluejays' effort.
Andie Coleman, who finished seventh individually, is the second individual from Syracuse who will get to head to state. They are joined by Jordan Lowrie of Oakley.
The top five individuals not on a qualifying team in the regional tournaments earn a berth to the state tournament.
