2019 Football Preview: Dodge City

Dodge City

2018 Record: 6-4. Lost to eventual state champion Derby in second round of 6A Playoffs.

The Demons have 17 seniors returning for the fall and look to try to advance past the second round of the KSHSAA Class 6A Playoffs this season.

Head Coach Dave Foster will likely keep senior Beau Foster in charge of the offense. The signalcaller passed for 997 yards and 10 touchdowns, while completing 55 percent of his passes, plus is the team’s top returning rusher, gaining over 600 rushing yards and collecting 9 touchdowns. Three of the Demons’ top four receivers from 2018 also come back – seniors John Johnson and De’jon Delgado, and junior Matt Friess.

Defensively, senior Jashon Taylor (95 total tackles) and junior Alden Knedler (76 tackles) lead the returnees. Senior Tommy Bermudez had nearly half of the team’s sack total, collecting six quarterback sacks last fall. John Johnson also led the team in total turnovers collected, picking off three passes and collecting a fumble on defense.
